Richland-Chambers Lake Area
Richland-Chambers Lake, Groundbreaking occurred in October 1982, with the dam finished in July 1987, completed in 1987, and filled by May 1989, was constructed by the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) to secure a water supply for North Texas following 1950s droughts. Located in Navarro and Freestone Counties, it is the third-largest reservoir located entirely in Texas, designed for water supply, flood control, and recreation. It was designed to provide drinking water to Tarrant County, with a 90-inch pipeline transporting water to Lake Benbrook starting in November 1988. The reservoir was built with a, "Y" shape, with its dam, which is over 6 miles long, sitting on the eastern end. Today, it is a popular fishing location, known for holding populations of blue catfish, white bass, and hybrid striped bass.
