Kaufman Texas

Kaufman Founded in 1840 as King's Fort by Dr. William P. King, Kaufman, Texas, was officially established as the county seat of Kaufman County in 1851. Named after Texas diplomat David S. Kaufman, the town grew as an agricultural hub and is known for its historic downtown, the unique Kaufman County "Poor Farm," and current rapid expansion as part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Kaufman is currently transitioning from a small, rural community into a rapidly growing suburban area within the fastest-growing county in the nation. The town is focused on preserving its historic downtown while accommodating new residential and commercial development, with a population projected to increase significantly in the coming years.
