Chandler Texas

Chandler Chandler, Texas, located in northeastern Henderson County, was founded in 1859 by Alphonso H. Chandler as "Stillwater" before being renamed in 1880 when it relocated to the Cotton Belt Railroad tracks. Initially a farming community, it was officially incorporated in 1910 and became a hub for fruit farming and trade, eventually evolving into a residential town near Lake Palestine. The economy originally relied on cotton but transitioned to fruit farming by 1936. The first city mayor was elected in 1960. Today, it serves as a commuter town with over 3,000 residents. The city maintains its history through the Chandler Museum & Visitor Center.
